Rudy Meza, lleg\u00f3 al campus de Haven for Hope en junio de 2018. Ingres\u00f3 al Programa de Tratamiento Integrado (ITP) del Centro de Servicios de Atenci\u00f3n M\u00e9dica, que se ofrece en el campus de Haven for Hope para trabajar con problemas de trauma y adicci\u00f3n a las drogas. La adicci\u00f3n provoc\u00f3 rupturas con su madre, Kim, y sus tres hermanas, Mirna, Noemi y Lizette. Ahora Rudy es parte de Next Right Steps (NRS). NRS es un programa de vida sobria proporcionado en el campus de Haven for Hope por la organizaci\u00f3n sin fines de lucro Pay it Forward y aqu\u00ed es donde Rudy vive actualmente mientras trabaja en su recuperaci\u00f3n. Rudy inicialmente se uni\u00f3 al programa Street2Feet debido a su naturaleza competitiva. Poco despu\u00e9s de ingresar al programa de entrenamiento, el aspecto competitivo pas\u00f3 a ser secundario frente a los beneficios terap\u00e9uticos que recibi\u00f3. Estimulado por el apoyo de la comunidad de Street2Feet, correr se convirti\u00f3 en la piedra angular de su recuperaci\u00f3n. La disciplina, establecer metas razonables y poner un pie delante del otro, incluso cuando no estaba motivado para hacerlo, reforz\u00f3 sus esfuerzos por ser un mejor hombre. Como dijo Rudy, \u00abnadie viene a Haven con una racha ganadora\u00bb, pero despu\u00e9s de haberse reinventado a s\u00ed mismo corriendo y convirti\u00e9ndose en \u00abm\u00e1s de lo que pens\u00f3 que podr\u00eda ser\u00bb, comparte el secreto de su \u00e9xito con sus compa\u00f1eros en el programa NRS. Donde las caras nuevas pueden carecer de confianza en s\u00ed mismo, \u00e9l brinda apoyo y aliento, tal como lo hizo la comunidad de Street2Feet por \u00e9l. Rudy ahora trabaja en un rol de servicio al cliente que le ha dado habilidades que puede usar en muchos roles. Esta oportunidad de empleo tambi\u00e9n le ofrece a Rudy los recursos para administrar las finanzas y eventualmente lo ayudar\u00e1 a hacer la transici\u00f3n fuera del campus. Despu\u00e9s de solo 6 meses de entrenamiento, complet\u00f3 el medio marat\u00f3n San Antonio Rock’n’Roll 2018. Rudy est\u00e1 especialmente orgulloso de haberse reunido con su familia y su hermana peque\u00f1a, Lizette, quien cruz\u00f3 la meta con \u00e9l.
