All clients at Haven for Hope are assisted in developing a person-centered income plan that’s specific to their goals, abilities, and circumstances. The mission of Income and Skill Development is to present opportunities and remove barriers to income, education, and skill development, in order to help individuals implement a strategy for long-term financial stability and permanent housing.
Transformational Case Management provides person-centered support to individuals and families by working with each client to understand their barriers and connect them to Haven programs and other partner agencies. The Case Management teams coordinate case management planning and care with Haven’s Income and Skills Development and Housing teams.
The Housing Team helps clients to transition into housing from the Haven campus. The Housing Team works to identify and procure safe, decent, and affordable housing while assisting clients in sustaining their long-term recovery and housing.
The Transformational Campus provides shelter while clients work to address the issues that have led to their homelessness. Approximately 70 partner organizations collaborate to provide wide-ranging comprehensive services, from obtaining identification to securing permanent housing.
Assists veterans, chronically homeless, referrals from homeless encampments, high utilizers of community emergency and medical services, and families in crisis with transitioning from homelessness to being housed.
The Veteran Services Team supports all homeless individuals residing at Haven for Hope who have ever served in the armed forces of the United States, (including National Guard and Reserve units), regardless of the length of service, or type of discharge. Services provided to Veterans include case management, counseling, housing, skills development, employment assistance, and VA benefits.
Legal services are provided by partners of Haven for Hope for clients experiencing homelessness.
Services include ID recovery and warrant relief.
We know people experiencing homelessness will not want to seek shelter without their furry friend! We have removed this barrier with our Kennel Services. Our Kennel Program provides shelter, food, toys, blankets, vaccinations, and veterinary services. Clients are still responsible for the daily care of their pets.
While incarcerated in the Bexar County Jail, clients are referred to Haven for Hope by Bexar County Pretrial Services and the University of Health Care Services. Individuals are connected to the Jail Outreach and Transformational Support Teams, who assist clients in meeting their legal obligations, connecting to community resources, and adjusting to a new quality of life in the community.
The Street Outreach Program seeks to find unsheltered individuals and families throughout the community, mostly in encampments. Street Outreach staff strive to build trust and rapport with people who are experiencing homelessness, in order to connect them, to homeless services providers including Haven for Hope.
The South Campus (Courtyard) is a low-barrier emergency shelter where individuals experiencing homelessness can take refuge as needed. Through our many community partners, clients at have access to three meals daily, safe indoor sleeping, shower facilities, medical care, mental health services, and more.
Provides wrap-around case management services to individuals who are identified as medically fragile and/or having a high need for mental health support.
The Acute Care Station (ACS) improves continuity of care for Haven for Hope clients by making on-site, after-hours acute health care services. These services are provided by San Antonio Fire Department Mobile Integrated Health Care Medics (SAFD MIH) at a designated, central location. The goal of ACS operations is to decrease the utilization of emergency room visits and triage for the most effective care of each client.
