Kim Jefferies

Kim Jefferies was previously the CEO of Brighton Center, local nonprofit serving children with disabilities and developmental delays and their families.  Under Mrs. Jefferies’ leadership at Brighton Center, the agency has quadrupled its operating budget, completed a successful $7.75M capital campaign that includes program and facility expansion to create a sustainable model of services that achieves greater outcomes for young children with disabilities, and tripled the number of children that Brighton Center serves.  Mrs. Jefferies prides herself on building and retaining high performing teams through hiring, inspiring, and motivating skilled professionals to thrive under a values-based culture which is highlighted by the 25+ local and national Best Places to Work awards Brighton Center has received under her leadership as well as the 2017 Nonprofit of the Year designation.  Mrs. Jefferies was named as a Top 40 Under 40 (2012), a Woman of Impact (2020), and a Top CEO (2021) by the San Antonio Business Journal. 

Kim holds a B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a specialization in Reading and a Minor in Business Administration, and an M.S. in Nonprofit Leadership from Our Lady of the Lady University.  Kim recently achieved an Executive Certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from Harvard’s Kennedy School for Executive Education. She has is a Certified Parent Trainer in the Nurturing Program curriculum, is a Licensed Director with the Department of Family and Protective Services, holds her Balanced Scorecard Professional (BSP) certification and Performance Measure Process (PuMP) certification both from George Washington University College of Professional Studies.

Driven by her organization, such as the United Way Successful Children’s Issue Council, the Headstart Assessment personal mission statement, Mrs. Jefferies believes in giving back through her professional and personal career. Throughout her career, Mrs. Jefferies has served on the various community associations and councils with Subcommittee, Baby Court Council, the Blue Ribbon Task Force, the Interagency Children’s Policy Leadership Council, and the Big Give S.A. Planning Committee.  Kim is currently the Secretary for the Nonprofit Council of San Antonio, serving for her 6th year on the Executive Committee, previously serving as the Membership Chair (2010-2011) for three years and as Chair (2011-2013). Mrs. Jefferies is currently representing her agency and serving in a leadership capacity in a community-wide pilot program headed up by the Kronkosky Foundation on a collective impact initiative to improve the service system for children with Autism in Bexar and surrounding counties, titled Autism Links for Life.  Kim is chairing Autism Lifeline Links’ Metrics Committee and participating in the Public Policy workgroup.  Kim is a member of Rotary San Antonio as well.  In 2017, Kim served as a mentor for the San Antonio Area Foundation’s Andeavor Fellows Program. 

Ms. Jefferies has also served on numerous committees and in various roles at her church, Our Savior Lutheran.  In the fall of 2014, Kim fulfilled a lifelong dream of completing a mission trip in Malawi, Africa conducting a comprehensive assessment of the current educational system environment for children with disabilities to inform future program and mission planning for the Kingdom Workers agency.

Kim is married to her husband, Cory, and they have two daughters, Kayleigh (23), who graduated in 2020 from the University of Oklahoma with a B.S. in Biology and is graduating in Dec 2021 with her MBA from Texas Tech University and will be working in Dallas with Clearsulting starting January 2021.  Kamryn (19) is a sophomore at Texas Tech University and is studying speech therapy.  Kim enjoys the outdoors, including hiking, horseback riding, raising chickens, and loves to garden.  The Jefferies spend their summers on the lake or at the beach and their winters in the mountains.  The Jefferies have two dogs in addition to their nine chickens.
